EXAM DATES EXAM PROCEDURES EXAM PROCEDURES Students must bring a calculator and a valid ID document. The use of the periodic table is permitted. Exam results and any updates will be published on this website (section: ESAMI - Esito) Students who pass the written test with a grade of 18/30 or higher may accept the grade or choose to take an optional oral exam. After the oral exam, the final grade may increase or decrease, up to failing the exam. The oral examination consists of questions covering the entire syllabus. At the end of the oral exam, the Professor will assign an overall grade, which the student may accept or refuse. The grade obtained in the written exam is valid only for that specific exam session and cannot be carried over to later sessions. Students who fail the exam at the first call of an exam session may still sit the exam at the second call of the same session. All students who have not previously taken organic chemistry exam are required to take a written exam regarding the organic chemistry and biochemistry propaedeutics part of the syllabus. The written exam will consist of 16 multiple-choice questions (5) of theoretical questions and will last 20 minutes. VALIDATION OF EXAMS FOR COURSE ABBREVIATIONS Student coming from other ITALIAN courses 1) Students from degree courses (both three-year and specialist degree courses) in which the chemistry exam is part of integrated courses must sit the complete exam (written and oral test). For these students, attendance is not recognised. This group also includes students from the three-year Biomedical Laboratory Technician degree course in which the chemistry exam is not part of an integrated course. 2) For students from degree courses in Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, and in Pharmacy, the exam will be validated following the presentation of the detailed programme and possible oral/written integrations of parts of the programme that had not been taken (e.g. the oral part of Organic Chemistry or the written part of stoichiometry + oral if an oral exam of organic chemistry or a written exam of stoichiometry had not been taken). For these students, attendance will be validated and the final mark will be based on the average of the marks obtained in the exams taken in the other degree courses and the mark(s) obtained in the supplementary exams. 3) Students from all other degree courses (Human Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Engineering, etc.) who have taken general/inorganic chemistry/stoichiometry exams with written and oral tests must take a pass/fail test (no score). This test (which can be taken in any exam session and which, if failed, can be retaken as many times as is necessary) will consist of a written assessment that covers the main topics of general chemistry/stoichiometry according to the programme published on this website. After passing the test, students will be awarded the average of their marks in General Chemistry/stoichiometry as their final score. All students that have not previously taken Organic Chemistry will also be required to take an oral exam regarding the Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry propaedeutics part of the syllabus. Students will be awarded the average of their overall marks as their final score. For all students referred to in point 3, attendance will still be validated Summary of the pass/fail/integrative tests. Students who passed Chemistry and organic chemistry in Universities abroad: ALL of them must make a complete validation pass/fail exam as above. |
